Managing governed test case logs in the In Work state
Execute, re-execute, and lock governed test case logs into review from the In Work state in Test Manager.
While a governed test case log is in the In Work state, it behaves like any other in-progress log: it can be executed and re-executed normally, and cannot be signed. The current topic explains what you can do with a test case log in this state, and how to lock it once you are ready for review.
Context
These are the operations you can perform on a governed test case log which has the In Work state.
- You can execute or re-execute the test case log, using any execution flow (manual, automated, override result).
- You can comment on the test case log.
- You can transition the test case log from In Work to In Review, unless its execution is still in progress. This transition is also available as a bulk operation, so you can lock multiple test case logs into review at once.
Steps
- Open the test set execution or the test case log you want to lock.
- Confirm the log has finished executing. If execution is still in progress, wait for it to finish. Test Manager blocks the transition and shows an error if you attempt to lock a log whose execution has not completed.
- Identify your name in the approvers' table.
- Identify the Approval status menu and select the pencil icon.
- Select In Review. To lock multiple logs at once, select them first and use the bulk action instead.
Result
The governed test case log transitions to the In Review state and becomes locked. Any concurrent execution or re-execution targeting that same log will now fail with an error, since locking takes precedence over result synchronization. Every assigned reviewer, individually and not by role, receives a notification: "Test result {test execution name}-{test case log name} is ready for review."
