Redis startup blocked by antivirus

Description

Redis may fail to reach a healthy state when certain antivirus software, such as CrowdStrike Falcon, is enabled in the environment. This issue occurs due to the antivirus policy Container Drift Prevention, which terminates processes related to Redis initialization scripts. As a result, Redis cannot complete its startup sequence and remains unhealthy.

Solution

To address this issue, you must create an exception for the antivirus policy that interferes with Redis. Take the following steps:

  1. Identify if your antivirus software includes a Container Drift Prevention or similar policy that terminates Redis-related processes.
  2. Work with your antivirus provider or security team to add an exception for Redis within that policy.
  3. Once the exception is in place, reboot the node and re-sync the Redis application to restore normal operation.
