Creating a business rule

Prerequisites​

Before creating a business rule, ensure you have:

  • The Create permission for Business Rules
  • A DMN file

When you build a DMN file, we recommend you create a new portable Web-based canvas so it can be used in UiPath products. Argument names must consist only of letters, digits, and the underscore character, and must begin with a letter or underscore.

Create a business rule​

  1. On the Business Rules page, select Add business rule, then Create a new business rule.
  2. Give the business rule a Name and a Description.
  3. In the File field, browse for a DMN file.

When the file is uploaded, the following fields become available:

  • The Download button — use this to locally download the business rule version
  • The Version field — prepopulated with the business rule's current version and can be edited at this point
Note:
  • The DMN file size should not exceed 1 MB
  • After you save the business rule with the uploaded DMN file, you cannot change its version
  • Each time a business rule object is changed, by default, it retrieves the latest one
  1. For better business rule management, you can optionally add Labels and Properties. To create new properties, use the Additional settings button.
  2. Select Add to create your business rule.
