Automation Hub User Guide
Automation Hub and Maestro serve complementary roles in the UiPath platform.
Automation Hub provides the governance and documentation layer — where business processes are submitted, categorized, and tracked.
Maestro provides the process modeling and execution layer — where those processes are designed as BPMN diagrams and orchestrated into automated workflows. Together, they form a connected path from process discovery and documentation to implementation and execution.
The Automation Hub - Maestro integration makes this connection explicit. Business process entries in Automation Hub can be linked to their corresponding Maestro solutions, associating governance and documentation with the process model that implements them. This gives process owners, reviewers, and automation teams a single reference point where both the business context and the technical implementation of a process are visible and traceable.
The Process Repository is a dedicated area in Automation Hub for storing and managing business process documentation. Unlike the automation pipeline, which tracks ideas through discovery and implementation stages, the Process Repository is a governed reference space where business processes are documented for long-term visibility and oversight.
Business process entries in the repository can be linked to a Studio Web solution. When a link exists, the Business Process Modeling and Notation (BPMN) diagram from the Studio Web solution modelled in Maestro is displayed within the business process entry. All Automation Hub users by default can consult the current diagram directly in Automation Hub without switching to Maestro.
Users can also take advantage of existing Automation Hub functionality within the process repository, including defining the applications used in each process, assigning collaborators and their roles, and accessing the documentation repository at the process level.
The repository is populated through submissions made under the Business Process submission type. The following table summarizes how the three submission types differ in purpose and destination.
| Submission type | Purpose | Destination |
|---|---|---|
| Idea | Track an automation opportunity for a process or workflow | Explore Automation Program |
| Change request | Request a change to an existing idea or automation | Explore Automation Program |
| Business process | Document and govern a business process | Process Repository |
Submitted business processes are visible to all users. Editing is restricted to users with the Account Owner, Process Owner, Process Submitter, System Admin, or Program Manager role.
For submission, you need the Authorized User role or higher.
Business processes submitted to the repository are organized through categories. Categories reflect your organization's taxonomy and allow process owners and reviewers to navigate and filter the repository according to your organizational structure. Each business process submission is assigned to a category during the submission flow.
For information on setting up and managing categories, see Categories.
The BPMN diagram linked from a solution in Studio Web is available in read-only mode within the process repository. You must do all modifications to the diagram in Studio Web. If a solution in Studio Web contains more than one BPMN diagram, only the first diagram is displayed.
For instructions on submitting a business process, see Submitting a business process.
For instructions on connecting a Maestro diagram to a business process entry, see Linking a solution to a business process.
Link a Studio Web solution to a business process entry to make the BPMN diagram available in read-only mode within Automation Hub.
Prerequisites
- A business process entry already exists in Automation Hub.
- The Studio Web solution you want to link has at least one published BPMN diagram.
- You have the Program Manager, System Admin, Process Owner, Process Submitter, or Account Owner role in Automation Hub.
- Open the business process entry in Automation Hub
- Select the Actions menu.
- Select Link to Studio Web.
- In the dialog, select the Studio Web solution you want to link.
- Select Confirm.
Results
The BPMN diagram from the linked Studio Web solution is displayed within the business process entry in read-only mode. If the Studio Web solution contains more than one BPMN diagram, only the first diagram is displayed.
