Automation Hub release notes

October 2026

October 2026 release notes for Automation Hub in Automation Cloud and Test Cloud.

October 8, 2026

Make the Applications section optional

Admins can now choose whether the Applications section of an assessment is required. When you turn off the new Applications are required setting on the section, users can submit and save ideas and business processes without selecting an application. This helps, for example, when the applications of a business process are added later from the step details of its process model. The setting is turned on by default, except on change request assessments, so existing assessments keep their current behavior until you change it.

An empty application selection counts as zero applications, which sets the Ease of implementation KPI to 100% (Easy) on assessments that include this KPI. For details, see Applications section settings.

Create applications when submitting ideas or business processes through the API

When you submit an idea or business process with POST /idea-from-schema, you can now create an application that isn't in the Application Inventory yet. In the applications answer, pass an object with an application_name, alongside or instead of existing application IDs. Automation Hub creates the application and links it to the submission. Users who can't manage the Application Inventory, and AI agents that submit for them, are no longer blocked by an incomplete inventory.

If an application with the same name, version, and language already exists, Automation Hub links that one instead of creating a duplicate. Requests that send only application IDs work as before. If Allow users to add new Applications is turned off for the section, requests that try to create an application are rejected. For details, see Introduction to Automation Hub API.

Bug fixes

  • Resolved an issue where submitting an idea through POST /idea-from-schema could fail with an unclear error message when a free-text question had no answer option available. The error message now names the question and tells you whether to leave it out or report the issue.
  • Resolved an issue where submitting an idea through POST /idea-from-schema with an application ID that doesn't exist caused an unexpected error. These requests now return a validation error.

Bug fixes

  • Resolved an issue where the Category column filter in the Automation Pipeline listed all categories, regardless of their scope. The filter now lists only the categories that apply to the current view. Idea views, such as All ideas and My Submissions – Ideas, list categories scoped to ideas and categories scoped to both ideas and processes. Process views, such as the Process Repository and My Submissions – Processes, list categories scoped to processes and categories scoped to both ideas and processes. For details, see Category scope.
  • Resolved an issue where saving an idea flow in Customize idea flows could change the Launch Date of live automations to the date of the save.
  • Resolved an issue where the Priority question in the assessment showed the Agentic AI Idea and Business Process answer options, which belong to the idea source question. This affected tenants whose assessment was created before June 14, 2023.
